Inside Danny Jones and Maura Higgins’ close bond on I’m A Celebrity after ‘kiss’

Maura Higgins and Danny Jones surprised many people by reportedly sharing a kiss at a Brits afterparty.
While a romantic connection comes as a surprise – particularly as Danny is married to Georgia Horsley – there were some signs the pair shared a bond.
The stars both competed in the most recent series of the ITV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and got to know each other well while camping in the Australian jungle.
Eventual King of the Jungle Danny, 38, and Maura, 34, could be seen enjoying banter-filled conversations and supporting each other through the tougher moments.
Let’s take a look at some of the ‘secret signs’ they became close before they hit the headlines…

Joking around
It was clear Danny and Maura were comfortable joking around with each other to pass the time and appreciated each other’s sense of senses of humour.
This was evident when they were sitting beside the campfire one evening discussing Maura’s musical ‘talent’.
Maura jokingly asked Danny if he would sign her up to his hypothetical record label. He bluntly replied ‘No’ before softening the remark with a laugh. In the humorous exchange, Maura said she usually sounded like Celine Dion before the jungle ruined their vocals. It was clear they both knew the best way to make each other giggle.

The campmates were treated to a night in pop-up pub Jungle Arms, where they got access to a few glasses of alcohol and a karaoke machine.
The McFly star couldn’t resist showing off his vocal prowess with a rendition of Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer – the campmates, including Maura, were suitably impressed.
Maura demonstrated just how much of a fan she was by enthusiastically singing along and waving her arms high up in the air. The visible support was a sign she could appreciate his talent and was unafraid to show it.
Danny reacts to Maura’s romance revelation
Maura opened up about her previous relationships during her time on the show. In one honest chat, Maura admitted to dunking an ex’s toothbrush into a toilet as revenge after finding messages on his phone.
Rather than being put off by her extreme punishment, Danny seemed almost impressed.
‘You don’t want to mess with Maura,’ Danny said after laughing at the anecdote.

When Maura first joined I’m A Celebrity she stayed in a separate camp with Reverend Richard Coles, and the pair had limited interactions with the other stars. However, Maura and Danny came into contact at a trial called High Street of Horrors.
It’s fair to say that Maura wasn’t looking her most glamorous self as she’d covered herself in muck and feathers to attempt to convince Danny and Dean McCullough they were roughing it (their private camp was actually luxury).
They were instantly friendly towards each other as they also were with other co-stars.
Danny comments on ‘romantic’ remark
After weeks without her usual beauty products, Maura complained that her future husband was never going to fancy her.
Jane Moore and Richard picked her up with plenty of compliments. Although Danny didn’t initially get involved he did chime in with: ‘That was romantic wasn’t it?’ after Richard said ‘If I was heterosexual, I’d be kneeling before you with a bunch of roses.’
Danny inserted himself into the conversation without actually saying anything that could get him into trouble as a married man.
